Clear and coherent bicycle policies facilitate existing cycling populations and encourage non-cyclists to try integrating bicycling into their normal routine. BICI uses its extensive knowledge of the interests and needs of cyclists to craft thoughtful policies that are easily executable and highly effective. We articulate policies that fit the needs of any client or community.
Bringing bicycles inside, away from thieves and inclement weather is an overriding priority to all cyclists. Using site-surveys and building research, BICI determines existing policies and infrastructure and ascertains what changes would be necessary to facilitate bicycle access. With this information, BICI can determine priorities and make concise recommendations and plans including: locating spaces within facilities that can accommodate indoor bike parking; writing new bicycle access regulations that will maximize accessibility and ease of adoption; and designing informational signage and materials for bicycling commuters identifying where and how bicycles should be stored.
Abandoned bicycles can overwhelm a well-designed bike room or clutter outdoor bike racks. BICI has extensive experience with designing bicycle removal and redistribution programs and can help any institution resolve this common maintenance headache. Developing a bicycle removal policy also offers a great opportunity to outreach to local non-profits or create a bicycle-recycling or share program within a community.
